Exxact GPU Cluster Ranked in the TOP500 List of World’s Most Powerful Supercomputers
The TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers recently featured Exxact Corporation’s GPU cluster. Announced at the 2015 Supercomputing Conference, the Exxact developed supercomputer placed No. 227 on the list featuring 7,920 cores, a Rmax value of 417.0 teraflops, and a Rpeak value of 831.0 teraflops.
Codenamed the Yoda, the customized GPU cluster is stationed in Washington D.C. at the Naval Research Laboratory where scientific and technological research is conducted for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The supercomputer is comprised of seven separate 42U racks that contain 64x fully customized Exxact Tensor TXR410-768R 4U GPU computing systems. The entire cluster is connected by a one-to-one non-blocking FDR (56 GB/s) Infiniband Network. It is equipped with 512 NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Black GPUs, totaling out to over 1.4 million CUDA Cores. In addition, the Yoda cluster comprises of 128 Intel Xeon E5-2620v2 Processors, and 8.32TB of memory.

About the TOP500 List
The TOP500 list is compiled by Hans Meuer of the University of Mannheim, Germany; Erich Strohmaier and Horst Simon of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; and Jack Dongarra of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The first version of what became today’s TOP500 list started as an exercise for a small conference in Germany in June 1993. Out of curiosity, the authors decided to revisit the list in November 1993 to see how things had changed. About that time they realized they might be on to something and decided to continue compiling the list, which is now a much-anticipated, much-watched and much-debated twice-yearly event.
