Zen 3, Yes Please

The most significant change from the 3000WX to the 5000WX series is Zen 3. System integrators and creators alike knew the immense power of the existing Threadripper PRO 3000WX series. Now with Zen 3 cores, the 5000WX series CPUs have an up to 20-30% performance gain over Zen 2 counterparts.

AMD has already made their enterprise server grade CPU, the EPYC Milan, with Zen 3 cores. The improvement from EPYC Rome 7002 to EPYC Milan 7003 is exactly what we see here from 3000WX (Zen 2) to 5000WX (Zen 3).

This is due to the core structure in the chipset design. Zen 2 3000WX had 2 IO cache dies shared between the 4 cluster dies (totaling 8) thus the CPU cache operated in split hemispheres. In Zen 3 5000WX and Milan chips, this cache structure is now 1 unit, unifying the entire CPU to operate as one. This improves the cache hit rate and situations where large amounts of cache are needed.

With the added improvements in front-end efficiency, instruction execution, and load and storage processes, the 5000WX’s generational leap hits a sweet spot. 20-30% of performance gain without adding extra cores and cache highlights AMD’s ability to deliver powerful and spectacular silicon.

One of the Best Performing CPUs

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX features 256MBs of L3 cache and 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes. With more cache, workloads that take advantage of high RAM, the high cache can offer closer and quicker data access. More PCIe lanes mean more GPUs, storage, and I/O of various components.

And though they are geared toward multi-threaded workloads, the Threadripper PRO CPUs still compete confidently in single-threaded workloads against other CPUs like their Ryzen 9 5950X and Intel i9 12900K (CPUs designed for high-performance single-threaded workloads).

According to a wide range of benchmarks by multiple sources, its versatility in multithreaded workloads, and great performance in single-threaded workloads prove why the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000WX is the choice CPU for any creator.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX uses the sWRX8 CPU socket and the WRX80 chipset, the same as the prior generation. These motherboards are the cross between workstation and server grade with many including baseboard management, enabling flexibility to operate as an HPC workstation or configured into a server. Since the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX is the workstation counterpart to the server-grade AMD EPYC Milan, its performance is exceptional.

Exxact is proud to be an Elite Partner with AMD. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX is now available in our workstation. We also offer AMD EPYC server configurations. Our systems are highly customizable to fit any need; whether it's large video rendering, reconstructing proteins and molecules, running mechanical simulations, or creating the next big thing, Exxact's got you covered.
