Intel HPC Orchestrator is a family of Intel-supported products designed to simplify HPC system software stack implementation and maintenance. At the 2015 Supercomputing Conference in Austin, Texas, leading HPC and visualization provider Exxact Corporation announced its first ever ranking in the TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. Codenamed the Yoda, the Exxact developed supercomputer placed No. 227 on the list featuring 7,920 cores, a Rmax value of 417.0 teraflops, and a Rpeak value of 831.0 teraflops.

The Yoda cluster is stationed in Washington D.C. at the Naval Research Laboratory where scientific and technological research is conducted for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The supercomputer is comprised of seven separate 42U racks that contain 64x fully customized Exxact Quantum TXR410-768R 4U GPU computing systems. The entire cluster is connected by a one-to-one non-blocking FDR (56 GB/s) Infiniband Network. It is equipped with 512 NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Black GPUs, totaling out to over 1.4 million CUDA Cores. In addition, the Yoda cluster comprises of 128 Intel Xeon E5-2620v2 Processors, and a staggering 8.32TB of memory.

Exxact GPU Cluster Accelerates Cancer Research at Notre Dame

Exxact Corporation, a leading provider of HPC solutions and sole provider of AMBER certified molecular dynamics systems, announced its joint effort with AMBER GPU Development Lead, Dr. Ross Walker, for providing the University of Notre Dame with a GPU solution to help assist cancer research efforts. Notre Dame scientists closely collaborated with Exxact, the Center for Research Computing, and Dr. Ross Walker to develop a solution fully optimized for AMBER software, featuring 40 NVIDIA Maxwell-based GPU accelerators installed in 10 Intel-based servers.

The research effort is led by Professor Brian Baker, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Science and Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame. Baker and a vastly talented team of biophysicists, biochemists, and immunologists are relying on GPU computing power to develop new immunotherapeutics. Cory Ayres, a biochemistry graduate student, leads the computational production while being co-advised by Professor Baker and Professor Steven Corcelli from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Ayres uses the AMBER software to examine the interactions of T-Cell receptors and major histocompatibility complex proteins bound to peptide antigens. By researching these interactions, the Notre Dame scientists will have a better understanding for creating personalized cancer vaccine therapies. Simulating the interactions with AMBER requires an extensive amount of computing power to provide optimal results. The University of Notre Dame was previously using central processing units, which could only simulate a nanosecond a day. Due to these limited results, Notre Dame turned to GPU-based computational modeling to accelerate their simulations.

“AMBER users can benefit greatly from GPUs and their ability to process massive amounts of complex data quickly and efficiently,” said Jason Chen, Vice President of Exxact Corporation. “Working closely with Ross Walker, we were able to fine tune a solution for Notre Dame, and we are excited by the potential impact that their research can have on advancing cancer research.”

With Exxact’s assistance, Notre Dame was able to implement an AMBER optimized GPU Cluster and produce rapid results. The AMBER optimized solution has the ability to leverage the NVIDIA GPU accelerators to simulate up to 1.2 microseconds a day, which is a factor of 1,000 times greater than when the scientists originally started their research efforts. This accelerated output increases Notre Dame’s research results in hopes of creating advances for personalized cancer vaccines.

Exxact Corporation, a leading provider of workstation graphics and HPC solutions, today announced that it will offer the NVIDIA® Tesla® K80 dual-GPU accelerators in its GPU server and cluster platforms to accelerate the most demanding single and double precision workloads in scientific computing, seismic processing, and data analytics applications.

Exxact’s new GPU solutions, equipped with NVIDIA Tesla K80 dual-GPU accelerators, represent the bleeding edge of supercomputing by offering 24GB memory per accelerator, increased memory bandwidth, and unmatched energy-efficient compute performance with up to 14.96 Teraflops double precision and 44.8 Teraflops single precision performance per server.

The Tesla K80 dual-GPU is the new flagship offering of the Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform, the leading platform for discovery and insight at scale, providing hardware, software and an extensive supported ecosystem for GPU-accelerated applications in the data center.

Featuring two high-performance GPU processors in a single board, the NVIDIA Tesla K80 accelerator delivers nearly two times higher performance and double the memory bandwidth of its predecessor, and 10 times higher performance than today’s fastest CPU on hundreds of applications.

RTT DeltaView provides the ability to display 3D visualizations at any time and in any place with outstanding quality. Users are no longer bound to an individual PC in the office but can view, present and interactively compare models generated in RTT DeltaGen on a laptop or on a colleague's computer. The DeltaView Test Drive program offers a special opportunity for 3D application users to experience an efficient and user-friendly method to distribute 3D models & scenes as part of an improved design and development workflow process.
